Fence Installation in Bear, Delaware
Wood, vinyl and aluminum fences with posts set deep and gates that latch.
Fences that stay straight
A fence leans for one of two reasons. The posts were not set deep enough, or water and frost worked on them until they moved. We dig to the right depth, set posts in concrete, and crown the concrete so water runs off instead of sitting against the post.
Before we dig a single hole, we call 811 so the utility lines get marked. If you are not sure where your property line is, we will tell you how to find out before we build.
What we do
Wood privacy fences
Dog ear, flat top and shadowbox styles in pressure treated pine. Good privacy for the money.
Vinyl fences
Privacy, semi privacy and picket styles. No painting or staining.
Aluminum fences
A clean, open look for front yards and around pools.
Gates
Walk gates and double drive gates, hung so they swing and latch right.
Fence repair
Leaning posts, broken boards and sagging gates.
Old fence removal
We tear out and haul away the old fence as part of the job.
What our weather does to fences
Freeze and thaw
Shallow posts get pushed up out of the ground over a few winters. That is why so many fences around here lean.
Wind
A solid privacy fence catches wind like a sail. Post depth and spacing matter more than people think.
Damp ground
Wood posts rot at the ground line first. Concrete crowned to shed water helps them last.

How a fence install goes
Layout and price
We walk the line with you, mark gates and corners, and give you a written price.
Utilities and HOA
We call 811 to get lines marked, and you get any HOA approval you need.
Posts
Holes are dug and posts are set in concrete, plumb and in line.
Panels and gates
Boards or panels go up and gates get hung and adjusted.
Clean up
Dirt and old fence materials get hauled away.
Wood, vinyl or aluminum
Wood gives you the most privacy for the money but needs sealing every few years. Vinyl costs more and needs only a wash now and then. Aluminum is for an open look and lasts a long time.
We buy fence materials from local suppliers and pick the posts and boards ourselves, so you are not getting the warped ones off the bottom of the pile.
We stand behind it
We stand behind our work. If something we installed is not right, call us and we will come back and make it right.

Fence questions
Do I need a survey?
You need to know where your line is. If you have a recent survey or can find your corner markers, that may be enough. If not, a survey costs less than moving a fence later.
How long does a fence install take?
Most yards take one to three days.
Which side faces out?
Usually the finished side faces the neighbors and the street. Some HOAs require it. We will check.
Do you remove the old fence?
Yes. We can tear out and haul away the old fence as part of the job.
